雅思写作真题范文精讲：音乐是人类共同语言吗？

今天的题目，大家应该感觉比较棘手。老雅来分析一下这个题目的写法。

如果大家没有理解universal language的意思，那就没有办法写这个作文了。

所谓“Music is the universal language of mankind"，用中文讲就是“音乐是人类的共同语言”，换句话说，不同国家，不同民族的人都可以通过音乐来交流，因为大家都能听懂音乐在表达什么。

那么，接下来我们是否同意这个观点呢？

老雅认为，to what extent do you agree or disagree类的题目，大多要用双边讨论，即要给出同意的理由，同时也要给出反对的理由。由此，本题可以按照如下思路来写：

Introduction: 引出音乐话题

第二段：全世界的音乐具有相同的基本元素，很多时候彼此能相互理解。

--世界上任何地方的音乐都是由相同的7个基本音符（musical notes）构成

--世界上所有音乐都有相似的元素，比如音高（pitch），速度（tempo）、长度（length）等

--事实上，很多音乐的确是属于全球的，大家都能听懂，比如贝多芬的第五交响曲（Beethoven's Fifth Symphony)就为全世界任何角落的听众所喜爱，并受到它的激励（People from all corners of the world understand it, love it, and are inspired by it.)

第三段：尽管如此，在很多情况下，对音乐的理解还是取决于听众所处的文化语境。（The understanding of music is largely dependent on the culture in which the audience find themselves.)

--Culture determines what kind of music is more popular with people. 此处举例中国人喜欢哪种音乐，欧洲人喜欢哪种音乐

--People from different cultural backgrounds may have different understanding about the same piece of music, because the music may be deeply rooted in the nation's particular history and only those familiar with the history can understand it. 此处可举国歌为例。

Conclusion: 虽然音乐的基本元素是Universal的，而且很多音乐也为全球所共享，但音乐表达的内容却往往是culture-specific的，因此，“音乐是人类的共同语言”这个说法is an overstatement。
