本专栏中，我会选取英文写作当中常见的英语写作同义词替换进行讲解，所讲解的词汇表达为通用词汇或者话题词汇。
befond of、take (a) delight in、have a liking/penchant for、have a taste for、①Children of today are fond of playing online games.如今的儿童们喜欢玩网络游戏。②It is immoral to take delight in hearing about the misfortunes of others.幸灾乐祸是不道德的。③have a liking/penchant for是非常正式的书面表达。
Many middle-school students have a liking/penchant for reading fiction.很多中学生喜欢读小说。
④Girls are more likely than boys to have a taste for foreign languages.女孩比男孩更有可能热爱外语。
capability、faculty、aptitude①capability和ability意思几乎相同，不过用法略有不同：ability后面只能加to do sth，而capability to do sth/capability of doing sth都可以。
Teachers should have the capability of imparting knowledge in an understandable way.老师应该具备清晰传授知识的能力。
Age affects the range of a person’s capabilities.年龄影响着一个人能力的大小。
②faculty表示才能；能力。常用作a faculty for/of (doing)sth。
Some people seem to have a faculty for making money.有些人似乎有赚钱的本事。
③aptitude表示天赋；天生的才能。后面同样是加for (doing) sth。aptitude for doing sth=talent for doing sth。【形近词】attitude(态度)、altitude(海拔)Anyone who can speak five languages obviously has a great aptitude/talent for (learning) languages.任何可以说五门语言的人很明显对语言有极大的天赋。
3 擅长的(be good/skilled at)①proficient与skilled意思相同。介词搭配：proficient in/at sth。
There is only one way to become proficient in anything: practice.熟练掌握任何事只有一种方法，即练习。
②adept熟练的；擅长的。注意区分adept和adapt(适应)。
Modern young people are adept in processing and sharing information.当代的年轻人擅长处理和分享信息。
③expert可以作形容词，表示擅长的；经验丰富的(experienced)。介词搭配与上面两个相同。
The company is expert at/in adapting its products for new clients.该公司擅长针对新用户设计相应的产品。
4 认知；领会(knowledge/understanding)awareness、grasp、consciousness①The campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers of passive smoking.该项运动旨在提高人们对于被动吸烟危害的认识。②grasp表示理解；领会。既可以作名词也可作动词：It is important to have a good grasp of English grammar.掌握英文语法很重要。Manufacturers should grasp the significance of environmental protection.生产商应该理解环境保护的重要性。③consciousness表示意识；认知。不可数名词。如：
This will increase public consciousness of health issues.这将会提高大众对于健康问题的认识。
