If the return on capital is high, then more capital will be invested by eager entrepreneurs and the resulting competition will drive returns back to a more normal level.如果资本回报很高，那么热切的企业家将投入更多的资本，并且由此导致的竞争将使利润回到更正常的水平。
result在这里表示(因...而)发生，与result from(由...导致)中的result意思一致。如：When education fails to keep pace with technological change, inequality may result.如果教育没能跟上科技变化，就可能导致不平等。【result后面相当于省略了重复的from it(前面的事).】
写作中通常用作the resulting+n，表示由上文提到的事物导致的结果。由于是特指由...导致的n，因此resulting前面通常要加上定冠词the。造个句：
也可以将resulting改为resultant，这两个词的用法是完全相同的，都是作为名词修饰词。
