我在上次分析今年4级作文题目的时候，写过这么一段话：

与经典的国外英语（比如雅思）相比，中国英语考试作文中的题目往往都是没有什么争议性的。比如，去年考研英语的题目是“今天的事情今天完成”，前年的考题是“凡事要坚持到底”，这些题目都是先给出了观点，要考生对其进行正面论证即可。而国外英语考试写作题目往往给出具有争议性质的观点，要求考生选择立场并给予论证，比如，电视该不该转播犯罪审判现场？女性该不该参军？我们该不该进行外空探索？

我原来以为，考虑到CET-4的学生认识能力尚浅，因此命题者不愿意给他们具有争议性的题目去论证，但是，看了CET-6的题目之后，我才真的懂了：我们的命题者压根就没想过要学生去写争议性的题目！

大家看，今年CET-6的三个题目，哪一个是要求考生去论证一个争议性的问题，然后形成一个自己明确观点的？都没有！因为，正确观点都已经给出了，考生只需要从正面去论证其正确性就行了！

这种命题方式，其实就是我们多数老师在课堂中的教育方式：提供正确答案，让学生去记住。至于这个答案为何正确，在哪些层面上还不够正确，这些都不需要去考虑！

如果比较一下雅思作文题目，可能就是另外一回事。比如就第一题而言，有个雅思题目和它很相似：有人认为，成功来自外貌或财富，另外一些人则认为，成功来自刻苦工作，请讨论双方观点，并提出自己的观点。

很多中国学生拿到这个考题，几乎是不用想就会直接选择论证“成功来自刻苦工作”，尽管在实际生活中他们都明白，其实很多类型的成功是来自美貌和财富的。到底是什么造成了我们学生思维如此一元化？可能大家都要思索这个问题。这个问题可能关乎我们教育的未来。

说实话，本意是不愿写这类4、6级题目的，但既然有很多读者在要求，那就按照我们本土命题作文方式，写一篇范文，供大家参考。我选择写第二个题目，即“值得做的事情就值得好好做”（What is worth doing is worth doing well.)

Before we start out to do anything, we always have to decide whether it is worth doing. What is worth doing can benefit others as well as ourselves, which means that it will do good to a certain group of people. So the valuable lesson we have to bear in mind is that, once we find something worth doing, we should do it well so that it can generate the maximum benefit for us.

本段论证为什么值得做的事情都应该做好。逻辑链条非常简单：值得做的事情会让某些人获益，因此应该做好，让这个益处最大化。

One perfect example is environmental protection. It is certainly a good thing to have our environment well protected so that we can enjoy the clean air and water, the quiet neighborhoods, the diversity of animal and plant species, and above all, the sustainability of social and economic development. In a word, nearly all humans and non-humans alike will benefit from a friendly environment. That is why all governments around the world are now attaching great importance to protecting environment. They are developing new technologies to recycle the wastes, and alternative energy to replace gas and oil. At the same time, they are all encouraging their people to use less cars and more public transport or even bicycles. It is hard to imagine what would happen if some countries gave up their efforts half way.

本段举例来证明“值得做的事情应该好好做”，最后一句话是从反面说明，如果不好好做会带来什么后果。考生这里可以举自己生活中的例子。

In summary, if one thing is worth doing, we need to do it well so that it can benefit as many people as possible. Adversely, a good thing, if not done in the right way, may actually produce negative outcomes. We therefore need to remember that "what is worth doing is worth doing well".
